The world is a village
Globalisation: everything is nearer than ever before. The world is a village. In that village people with different roots live closer together. However, many of them don’t know each other. And unknown is often unloved. The European Caravan makes music, theatre and dance with specific attention to the Roma/Gitano culture. Our projects aim to generate encounters and dialogues about social and cultural values. That’s how art connects people.
We’ll entice you to come out of your comfort zone
Exactly who are you, in that big village? How are others similar to you? How are they different from you? And is there a place where you can meet the others? The European Caravan challenges you to think about this. To get out of your comfort zone. No matter if you are a participant, spectator or partner. That’s what we do: we leave the trodden path, the familiar grounds. Exciting, challenging, complex!
Artistic cross-fertilisation squared
Our participants, artists and audience have different roots, are male or female, old or young … or somewhere in between. We initiate a dialogue between all of them, in an atmosphere of trust. Together we create new stories with dance, music and theatre. That’s how we reinvent many things, while also holding up a mirror to the audience. Young talent gets extra coaching.
And we are quite ambitious too.
Of course, this is not random stuff we do. The European Caravan aims to:
- facilitate encounters between different cultures, with equal cooperation, with Roma/Gitanos in the first row.
- give young artists and their talents the attention they deserve.
- develop a strong dialogue with local stakeholders in the cities where we work.
We are here to stay
The European caravan belongs to everyone who works on it, with respect for each other. For this we rely on an extensive international network.
