The breeding ground of Madam Fortuna lies in the heart of Antwerp, right in the super-diverse and vibrant district of Borgerhout. Madam Fortuna embraces the people in her city, her country and the whole of Europe with dazzling music, theatre and musical theatre.
Madam Fortuna breathes art for and by everyone. People of all cultures, young, old, man, woman, strange, familiar: everyone can participate in our quirky artistic projects. We work in low-threshold groups. Emerging talents, which come to the surface, receive intensive individual support and training. This is who we contribute to giving otherwise invisible voices a stage to perform on.

Artistic encounters between people of all walks of life: that’s what Madam Fortuna stands up for. Participants, artists and audiences alike step out of the comfort of their own world and meet people who are different from them. They may have different roots, be old, or young, or somewhere in between. They enter into dialogue in an atmosphere of trust. Artists from the European, African, Arabic, South American and Roma cultures are given opportunities to show their talents.

With Madam Fortuna, artistic expression strengthens social cohesion and vice versa. Because people who can develop their talent, who are really heard and count, can also grow. They become more self-confident, stronger, both on a social and personal level.

Our commitment to diversity ensures cross-fertilisation, resulting in spicy, juicy fruits. Madam Fortuna also wants to give others a taste and make others warm to it. That is why we focus on a strong network between different sectors, organisations, institutions, governments, cities and cultural institutions. Together with numerous partners home and abroad, Madam Fortuna is working on the road, cheerfully and passionately. Madam Fortuna was founded in 2009 and structurally supported by the Flemish Government.
